About The Welcoming Committee

What is The Welcoming Committee?

A movement of people who think it's time for LGBT folks to experience every bar, sports game, event, and major travel destination the same way straight people do.

What is "TWC," the app?

"TWC" helps answer the question, "Where are the gays going tonight?" It uses geo-location technology to show existing takeovers happening near you. You can see how many people are going and how many have already checked in. Vote up the ones you think you'll attend. Don't see one you like? Then create a takeover near you.

What is a takeover?

The act of a whole bunch of gay people getting together and making a space theirs... for one night only. Is it aggressive? No. Is it awesome? Yes.

What happened to Guerrilla Queer Bar?

GQB hasn't gone anywhere. In fact, it birthed a parent called The Welcoming Committee. TWC is a movement. GQB is an activity. If you're a member of TWC, we still better see you at GQB. And a whole bunch of other events.
